Darden North will be one of several book award authors "put on" The Writers’ Block - SIBA's first-ever Feed-an-Author Auction & Reception
Saturday, September 26, 2009, 6 - 7:30 p.m., SIBA 2009 Trade Show, Carolina First Center, Greenville, SC.

Bring your money and outbid your neighbor at this first ever SIBA FunRaiser! 2009 Book Award Authors will go on the block. You bid for the privilege of taking them out to dinner. Once the going, going, gones are announced the winning bidders and authors are off to dinner together. The minimum bid is $20 and must be raised in increments of at least one dollar. Shuttles will be available to take folks downtown to our sponsor Table 301’s family of restaurants. Every author package will include a restaurant gift card. A percentage of the proceed will got to Loaves & Fishes, an effort supported by Table 301 to feed Greenville (SC)’s hungry.

Recently, I’ve gotten into listening to audiobooks on my drive to and from work, so I was thrilled to see that “House Call” had just come out—and I was not disappointed. Narrator Michael Robbins nailed it with his southern dialect and portrayal of the unique characters. Robbins could pass for a Mississippi native!...

From the Other Side

The new year 2016 brought a special gift to me, the "opportunity" to be on the other side of the healthcare delivery system--the care receiver rather than the caregiver. Fortunately, I am blessed that my surgery went well. I only missed just over week of work, and a full recovery is expected. During those days away from my ob/gyn career, I spent time at home recuperating and was feed well by family and friends. The surgery had been scheduled long before the Ole Miss Rebels finished a stellar football season, and since my wonderful physician is not an Ole Miss fan he did not mind skipping our second trip to the Sugar Bowl in over 40 years. Fully alert, status-post anesthetic trance and requiring minimal post-op pain meds on the evening of January 1, I watched Ole Miss trounce Oklahoma State on a fairly large, widescreen TV from the comfort of my den couch.
